Aboriginal employment a focus for Housing Authority

As part of its commitment to enhancing Aboriginal economic participation outcomes, the Housing Authority expects contractors to meet Aboriginal employment targets. From 2020, mandated targets will apply state-wide.

Targets of 10-20% currently apply to Housing contracts in the Kimberley/Pilbara and Goldfields/Esperance, while in other regions Housing wants contractors to be making progress “towards 5%”.

From 2020 onwards, contractual targets will be applied at 25% in the Kimberley and Pilbara, 15% in Goldfields/Esperance and 5% in all other regions.

For civil works contracts, the targets only apply to contracts with a total labour value greater than $300,000.
