Councils in flood-affected areas of WA will be allowed to use their own workforce and equipment to repair flood damaged infrastructure and still access disaster relief funding. CCF WA wants to hear from members who believe their businesses could be affected by this decision.
Under the temporary exemption, local governments can use their own labour, plant and materials to undertake the works, if it can be proven that the local government cost to repair the works is cheaper and provides better value for money than a contractor completing the same works.
UPDATE: CCF WA has written to the Federal and State Governments relaying members’ concerns and requesting this decision be reviewed. CCF WA members are invited to contact Member Services Manager Andy Graham with information about any effect on their businesses.
