The Auditor General’s office is assessing the effectiveness of government procurement initiatives (such as the Buy Local policy) in delivering local content and employment, and is seeking comment from businesses.
Key points of the inquiry are:
- Are local content policies effective in creating employment and stimulating sustained local business activity?
- Do agencies apply local content policies consistently to all relevant procurement activities, including activities by contractors?
The report is being tabled in November. CCF WA members are encouraged to respond to the survey as soon as possible.
Note that CCF WA is currently engaging with the State Government on the development of its WA Industry Participation Strategy, which also addresses local content policy, so please forward any comments to Andy Graham at ccfwa.com.au.
